Caremelt® honoured with the Ernst Pelz Prize

After the renowned BIOPOLYMER Innovation Award, TITK has already received the next major award with its completely bio-based and biodegradable hotmelt Caremelt® on 03 July 2023: The Bavarian Minister of State for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, Michaela Kaniber (CSU), presented the Rudolstadt research institute in Würzburg with the Ernst Pelz Prize endowed with 10,000 euros.

The festive award ceremony in the Kaisersaal of the Würzburg Residence took place as part of the symposium "Energy and Resource Turnaround: from Strategy to Best Practice", organised by C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V. - the Central Agricultural Commodity Marketing and Energy Network of the Free State of Bavaria.

"Only if there are people and companies who are committed to the energy and resource turnaround can it succeed," said the Minister at the award ceremony and warmly congratulated the Managing Director of TITK, Benjamin Redlingshöfer, and the project manager for Caremelt®, Andreas Krypczyk. The bio-melt adhesive developed in Rudolstadt can be used by industry almost anywhere for packaging, textiles, car parts or wood.

On behalf of all colleagues at TITK, Institute Director Benjamin Redlingshöfer expressed his gratitude for this high distinction and the wonderful evening at the Würzburg Residence. "A special thanks to the Ernst Pelz Foundation, the C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V. and of course to the Minister of Agriculture of the Free State of Bavaria, Michaela Kaniber," Redlingshöfer continued. "For more technological sovereignty and technological change, we need a strong innovation dynamic and successful industry transfer between research and companies - and we need it to be open to technology and free of ideology." The C.A.R.M.E.N. Symposium is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with experts from the various sectors and to develop ideas for future innovations together.

The Ernst Pelz Prize was established in 1992 by the Ernst Pelz Foundation to further develop technologies for the utilisation of renewable raw materials and also to promote them financially. In addition to the Ernst Pelz Prize, the Promotion Award for Renewable Raw Materials was also awarded on Monday evening. The award, also endowed with 10,000 euros, was given to Lorenz GmbH from Taucha (Saxony) for a prefabricated wood-straw building element that is a wall, insulation and solar power plant in one.
